Love Your Body with Matcha

We all know that Matcha green tea powder is bursting with all manner of goodness for your overall well-being, and that drinking at least a cup of matcha green tea each and every day will serve you well.  Each cup delivers a big dose of antioxidants and amino acids which fight disease, it reduces stress and enhances calm - and it also tastes fantastic.

But did you know that matcha green tea powder can also be beneficial to use on the outside of your body?

Here is a wonderful recipe we found for a fresh, homemade Matcha Mint Body Scrub. It looks and smells good enough to eat – but you actually use it on your skin! Think of it as a luxurious, refreshing body treat...

You Will Need:

  • 2 mint tea bags (peppermint, spearmint, or wintergreen)
  • 2 teaspoons of matcha green tea powder
  • 1 cup of Epsom salts
  • ¼ cup of organic coconut oil
  • 10 drops of peppermint 100% essential oil

What to Do:

Cut the mint tea bags open and empty the leaves into a bowl. Whisk in the matcha green tea powder and the Epson salts until well combined. Stir in the peppermint oil and the coconut oil until all is mixed thoroughly. Store the mixture in a sealed, airtight container in a cool and dark place.

If you want to, you can also add a chamomile tea bag to the mix, or even a couple of drops of tea tree oil or eucalyptus oil. Just be careful to use these oil sparingly as some people’s skin can be sensitive – so don’t use more than a drop or two.

Use the body scrub in the bath or shower. It not only makes your skin glow and works as a natural exfoliant, it softens the skin beautifully. The chlorophyll content of the green tea can help balance the pH of the body, and the refreshing aromas of this scrub are perfect for helping to clear a stuffy head when you have a cold or even the flu. It is a wonderful mood enhancer and pick-me-up.
